The Latest Issue of Christian Counter Culture takes a close look at how Christians should, or maybe shouldn't, engage with the arts. It is one of the best reads that I have come across in a while, making me exclaim (in my head) "Yes! That is exactly right!" time and time again. Here are a few selected quotes to give you a feel for what was said:

Most Christians today have one of two responses to the subject of art. They either know nothing about it — hence, they care not a wit about it — or what they do know about today's art world is repugnant to them. As a result, they are openly hostile to the cultural domain of the arts. This circumstance is both understandable and tragic."

Since I'm not having the time to say much of anything as of late, I'll be using others for content. If you didn't notice, I now have a "link blog" (powered by del.icio.us) in the sidebar. I'll be sure to throw-up any links that interest me as soon as I see them. An RSS feed is available as well for you nerdy types.

"MORE AND BETTER AID. TRADE JUSTICE. CANCEL THE DEBT. END CHILD POVERTY IN CANADA."

It is pretty simple in my mind. Watching Live 8 today, I think that basically everything that can be said on the topic has been is already said. Check Technorati if you don't believe me on that one!

I'm guessing that everyone who happens to read this has already signed onto the Live 8 campain. However, if you haven't already, go and voice your support on the Live 8 and Make Povery History websites and with everyone that you know and meet. I like Manifestos, so below is Make Poverty History Canada's take on the situation:

Based on the recent CBC Radio 3 Podcast and other information, I am going out on a limb and saying that iTunes 4.9 will very likely be out this morning, on Tuesday June 28th. If not, it will be out within the week.

The reason that I am saying this is my freshly download episode, aptly titled "iTunes premire" is billing itself as "iTunes Featured". Breaking from it's usual weekly publishing schedule (the last Episode was only 3 days prior) DJ Grant Lawrence announces that:

"...this is a very special edition of our show show because this very Podcast is being promoted by iTunes who just entered the world of Podcasting themselves. Welcome iTunes, thanks for the attention. So for all our regular subscribers bear with me for a second while I welcome everyone from the iTunes site who might possibly be listening to a Podcast for the very first time."

Yawning.

Why do we yawn and why is it contagious? Apparently it has something to do with the superior temporal sulcus and the the periamygdalar region according to a new study from Helsinki. Whatever that means. In the meantime, take Emilie's "Don't Yawn" test.

This more for my own memory more than anything that most sane folks would be interested in. As this blog is in dire need of a style overhaul, this excellent WordPress Theming Tutorial, Parts [1] [2] [3], should come in handy.

Now back to the eBay inputting and the account entry. The business is coming along slowly, that's for sure. I'm still in the beginning stage, getting my system set up.

It seems as though my quest for productivity is taking up a lot more time than I actually spend implementing it. It seems that I am not the only one.

One of my latest finds is an add-on for Mail aptly named "Mail Act-On" which allows the archival and sorting of mail via keystrokes. There's a bunch of great stuff you can do, as these tips show.

Up next is DIY Planner, a collection of free productivity templates, even for a Hipster PDA (see the Hipster PDA edition).

"Duh, Duh, Duh, Duh-da-duh-duh-da-duh"

The most human prayer

I found this quote to be a strength the other day. I just thought that I would quickly share it:

The experience of losing your faith, or of having lost it, is an experience that in the long run belongs to faith; or at least it can belong to faith if faith is still valuable to you, and it must be or you would not have written me about this. I don't know how the kind of faith required of a Christian living in the 20th century can be at all if it is not grounded on this experience that you are having right now of unbelief. "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief" is the most natural and most human and most agonizing prayer in the gospels, and I think it is the foundation prayer of faith.

Lately I've been coming to realize that I am getting to my Mid-Twenties (ok, 22) and I need to start being a productive adult. By this, I don't mean working for "the man" but becoming organized and productive so that I can reach my own personal goals and have a better quality life. Some things that I have come across that are very handy and inspiring so far:

1) The 43 Folders blog is always full of useful advice, links and nerdy productivity boosters.

2) I am going to read David Allen's Getting Things Done.
